Legend has it that he instructed a close associate, the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange, to count the number of blinks that he made once beheaded. This would enable Lagrange to estimate how long a human head lives after being dismembered. While most scholars count this story as dubious, what is not dubious is that Antoine was a fraudworlder.
